- Bauhaus
Go Away White is an album I've been waiting more than 20 years to hear, and the good news is that it was worth the wait. The latest -- and last, no...for real this time -- album from Bauhaus is fantastic. More importantly, it's [...] - Bryan Chaffin
- Wolfmother
Black Sabbath, The White Stripes, The Stooges. There aren't many bands worth their salt that want to be compared to other bands, but when I listen to Wolfmother's self-titled American debut, I can't help but be reminded of those three other bands. [...] - Bryan Chaffin
- Belle & Sebastian
The Life Pursuit is a sort of Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. You get Belle & Sebastian's peanut butter (its wistful, often irresistible pop) dipped in a 'Have A Nice Day!' and glam 70s chocolate. Although I'm guessing that most Belle & Sebastian [...] - Robyn Weisman

Apple iPhone 2.0.2 Fix is Subtle - Too Subtle for Some
Thursday, August 28th, 2008 at 1:50 PM - by
Whenever Apple publishes an iPhone update that purports to fix something, one of the first things that appears is a story that says nothing's changed. That's because in a complex technology, variable factors are never the same for everyone, as Apple Insider pointed out on Thursday. ...more...

Review - FlowerVest case for iPhone 3G
Thursday, August 28th, 2008 at 12:30 PM - by
The FlowerVest by Agent 18 is a "flexible, lightweight, durable silicone" case for the iPhone 3G. And while its vibrant flower designs and color options -- pink with pink flowers or brown with blue flowers -- don't do much for me, they do a lot for my 20 year old daughter, who says this case is the coolest one in my collection of more than a dozen cases that are waiting to be reviewed. ...more...

Orange: No Padded iPhone Lines in Poland
Thursday, August 28th, 2008 at 9:25 AM - by
After the iPhone 3G went on sale in Poland on August 22, Orange representatives said that the company paid actors to stand in line to drum up interest in the combination iPod and smartphone. - Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.13 - "If You Leave"
We open with the cheer squad doing their thing, which finally offers proof that Darcy hasn't dropped off the face of the earth as she congratulates Manny for pulling the team together and rallying and all that jazz. They're going for metro finals - against Lakehurst, of course. As an aside, Metro Finals?
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.12 - "The Bitterest Pill"
Forgive my ignorance, as I'm not very understanding of funeral protocol, but the thing they do after a burial is called a wake, right? If I'm right, we open this episode at JT's wake, where pictures of his headshot litter various surfaces.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.11 - "Rock This Town"
"My mom's specific instructions were not to have a party," Emma says. And anyone who was a child of the 80s knows that what happens next is they're going to do it anyway and wackiness will ensue, but somehow they'll emerge unscathed, still the apple of their parents' eye. Sort of.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.10 - "What's It Feel Like To Be a Ghost? Pt. 2"
Ellie is chewing her thumb as Jesse leans over her shoulder. "A day in the life of Craig Manning," he reads aloud. "Ouch. That's your title?" And the award for Most Supportive Boyfriend goes to...
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.9 - "What's It Feel Like To Be a Ghost? Pt. 1"
“Looking for someone?” says a familiar voice. No, for once it’s not the voices in your head. It’s the voice of long lost season regular Craig, who has reappeared through the magic of a guest spot! (Or a desire to bag more cash to buy stuff – take your pick.)
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.7 - "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
Emma is about to engage in a time honored Canadian tradition – picking up her boyfriend from jail. That’s not to say every guy in Canada is a jail bird... just most of them. Kidding, kidding... anyway, Shawn tells Em that he’s free, out on probation, and ready to live the good life.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.6 - "Working For The Weekend"
So Darcy isn't yet done being a glutton for punishment, and approaches Spinner in the hallway to apologize once again. Spinner says he's sorry too and starts moving towards her, but Darcy continues, telling him something was missing and she hopes they can still be friends. Ouch - burn. Poor Spinner.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.5 - "Eyes Without A Face, pt. 2"
Showing the classic signs of an addict, Darcy is spending media studies checking out her MySpace - er, MyRoom - page while Snake is blathering on about conglomerates or some such nonsense. Funny how it's been years since I've been in school and I'm still able to tune out when a teacher is speaking.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.4 - "Eyes Without A Face"
We begin this week's episode with a colossal mistake. Said colossal mistake is executed by Spinner, the king of colossal mistakes. Seriously, it's on his business card. And what's the colossal mistake? Telling good girl Darcy that she's a good girl as the two of them sit chatting in his car after class.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.3 - "Can't Hardly Wait"
Carly Milne reviews the latest episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation, "Can't Hardly Wait." Readers should note that this week's episode (and its coverage) includes some adult issues.
- Degrassi: The Next Generation 6.2 - "True Colors"
Considering the events that closed out last week's ep, it's no surprise that we begin this week's at the courthouse, where Emma sits patiently in the hallway until Peter walks out with his dad and Hazilakos. As he reunites with Emma, we learn two valuable lessons...
- Degrassi Episode 6.1: "Here Comes Your Man"
We begin season six with Emma and Peter celebrating his 17th birthday at some restaurant. They walk out to valet where a car pulls up, and the valet leaps out to hand keys to Peter’s dad. Guess what? It’s Peter’s bday gift...
- DeGrassi: Series 1-5 Recap
I'm a sucker for a well-written show that's smart enough to roll adult issues in with its teen angst. How many of you continued to watch 90210 long after you were out of high school for the same reason? Exactly. Which is why I'll be recapping the show over the next season, giving loving attention to my favorite characters (Paige, Emma) and delighting in verbally torturing the ones I like least (Craig, that would be your distinctive category until you stop cheating on all your girlfriends). That said, let's brush up on what happened last season so we can all be ready for this season's drama
