    • Wolfmother
    • Black Sabbath, The White Stripes, The Stooges. There aren't many bands worth their salt that want to be compared to other bands, but when I listen to Wolfmother's self-titled American debut, I can't help but be reminded of those three other bands. [...] - Bryan Chaffin

    • Belle & Sebastian
    • The Life Pursuit is a sort of Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. You get Belle & Sebastian's peanut butter (its wistful, often irresistible pop) dipped in a 'Have A Nice Day!' and glam 70s chocolate. Although I'm guessing that most Belle & Sebastian [...] - Robyn Weisman

iPhone Price Missing from UK Apple Store

iPhone rumor mongers were tossed a nice bone on Tuesday when the price for Apple's combination iPod and smart phone disappeared from the U.K. version of the company's Web store. The missing price coupled with the iPhone's recent status change to "Currently Unavailable" will likely fuel rumors of the expected product refresh along with the possibility of a price change.

NYT: Six Million Missing TV Viewers

A year ago, during the May "sweeps" month, there were six million more viewers than this year, according to the New York Times on Monday. While some fled after the writers strike, the real loss has been due to viewers using DVRs and other devices to watch TV on their own terms. ...more...

  • Yahtzee for iPod
    • Yahtzee is a great group game, but does it translate well to the iPod? Vern takes the dice out for a roll and lets us know what he thinks.

  • Big Words on the Small Screen: Scrabble for the iPod
    • EA Mobile has reduced the big board game Scrabble to the small screen iPod. Vern Seward takes a peek at the new iPod game and lets us know if the small screen version is worth the effort.

  • Go Fast, Really Fast: Pole Position Remix
    • Namco has released a version of Pole Position for nearly gaming platform, even the Vectrix Game System (you hardcore old school gamers know what I'm talking about). Now Namco has a new version of the classic racing game for your iPod; Pole Position Remix (PPR). At first glance, PPR looks like the old 16-bit game that was one of Namco's best sellers, but with the word 'Remix' in the title you know some things have changed.

  • Great Balls Of Fun: Peggle
    • Looking for a fun and easy game that's tailored for the iPod? Peggle may just fit the bill. Read on to see what Vern Seward thinks of this Pachinko-style game.

  • iSkin Cerulean F1 and TX+RX
    • Believe it or not there are some tech-journalists who didn't get an iPhone to review. It's all good though, because I have something that trumps the iPhone, at least in one tiny way: I can listen to my iPod on Bluetooth stereo headsets. No wires baby! Even better, I can make and answer my Bluetooth-capable cellphone through my Bluetooth headsets!

  • The Sims Bowling
    • When EA Games announced they were bringing The Sims Bowling to the iPod I wondered how they were going to pull it off: The Sims requires a lot more horsepower than what comes standard in a video iPod, and a much larger screen. As it turns out The Sims Bowling is more of a Sims themed bowling game than a version of The Sims that centers on that after-hour sports, but that not a bad thing. In fact, bowling fans as well as fans of The Sims will likely get a kick out of this game.

  • Sonos: Time To Get A Bigger House
    • There is one place where listening to my music collection should be the easiest, yet it is the toughest for me: in my home. Yes, of course, I could simply buy Apple TV and the problem would be solved. But what if I wanted music to play in my bedroom, out on the deck, or in the living room? Apple TV just won't cut much mustard it this case and I have to look elsewhere for a solution, and that elsewhere is Sonos.

  • Belkin TuneTalk Stereo
    • After this year's Macworld the number of iPod accessories has probably doubled. That's good because there's one accessory that I would like to see more of: voice recorders. Several companies have released them recently, however, and one of the newer models is the Belkin TuneTalk Stereo Recorder.

  • JBL Radial Speakers For iPod
    • With so many systems available one might wonder why anyone would bother bringing another speaker system to the market, after all, the competition is tough, the field is crowded, and hi-fi speaker systems specifically for the iPod cater to a relatively small, albeit growing segment of the population. I know I wondered that when I learned that JBL is now offering a new top-of-the-line system, with the unfortunately long name of the JBL Radial High Performance Loud Speaker Dock for iPod.

  • Nike + iPod Sports Kit
    • A friend of mine showed me his new Nike + iPod Sports Kit (N+iP). If you run, jog, walk, crawl, or hobble energetically and you own an iPod nano (sorry, only works on nanos) you need to get one of these kits.

  • iPod Games: Vortex and Zuma
    • When Steve Jobs announced that the iTunes Store would be offering games, I figured that the games offered would be stale rehashes of ancient arcade hits. Well, many of them are rehashes of old arcade hits, but updates for at least two games - Vortex, and Zuma- are anything but stale.
