- Bauhaus
Go Away White is an album I've been waiting more than 20 years to hear, and the good news is that it was worth the wait. The latest -- and last, no...for real this time -- album from Bauhaus is fantastic. More importantly, it's [...] - Bryan Chaffin
- Wolfmother
Black Sabbath, The White Stripes, The Stooges. There aren't many bands worth their salt that want to be compared to other bands, but when I listen to Wolfmother's self-titled American debut, I can't help but be reminded of those three other bands. [...] - Bryan Chaffin
- Belle & Sebastian
The Life Pursuit is a sort of Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. You get Belle & Sebastian's peanut butter (its wistful, often irresistible pop) dipped in a 'Have A Nice Day!' and glam 70s chocolate. Although I'm guessing that most Belle & Sebastian [...] - Robyn Weisman

- EETimes Says Apple Must Clone the iPhone
You can make statistics say anything you want, and the same is apparently true of history, at least judging by a curious column from Rick Merritt of EETimes. Mr. Merritt posits that Apple is going to end up being forced to clone the iPhone in order to compete with Google's Android platform, or wind up being an also-ran in the cell phone industry. What makes his arguments amusing is that he draws upon Mac vs. PC competition and history to make his case.
- Analysts Miss the Boat, Question Innovation in iPhone 3G
Yesterday, I wrote a column saying that a key component to Apple's price drop for the iPhone 3G centers around the App Store. I still haven't seen anyone else cottoning on this, which doesn't surprise me, but I was a little surprised by a couple of things coming from the world of analysis and punditry. Most notably is a piece from Dow Jones saying there's no innovation in the iPhone 3G.
- iPhone's Price Drop All About the App Store
Many people seem to think that Apple lowered the price of the iPhone merely to move more units, and that dropping revenue sharing has come about because Apple is willing to let carriers subsidize the device.? I think that Apple is actually trading revenue sharing from the carriers in favor of what may be a much bigger pie: revenue sharing from its developers in the form of the App Store.
- iPhone: All That, a Bag of Chips, and a Rootbeer Float, Too!
The iPhone has arrived, and it's everything it was cracked up (by Apple) to be. Contacts, music, calendars, photos, movies, YouTube browsing, Web-surfing, and it makes calls, too! Writing a review for this device could legitimately be anything from two words ("It's great.") to a 3,000 word opus on all of the nitpicky pros and cons, but I'm going to take the middle road and look at the broad picture.
