    • This timeless masterpiece is little known, but it has inspired almost as many bands as The Modern Lovers' own inspiration -- and only slightly better known -- The Velvet Underground & Nico.

ABT Launches New iJet Line

Whereas some companies are content with producing iPod remotes tethered to the range and line-of-sight limitations of infrared, and others employ the more restricted distances of BlueTooth or a weak RF signal, ABT’s iJet remotes are good for up to 150 feet range, the company says.

Never heard of ABT? You may be using one of their products without knowing it. The company is the OEM supplier for a number of others who simply slap their logo on the product, including the likes of Targus and other big names. At Macworld Expo ABT was demonstrating a new line of iJet products that will start shipping over the next month or two.

Among these products is the iJet for Nano, which builds an FM transmitter and RF remote into an impressively small package. When the remote is not in use, it can be clipped flush into the back of the case. The iJet for Nano can transmit at 88.1MHz, 88.3MHz, 88.5MHz, and 88.7MHz while the remote is good for up to 100 feet.

There is also a dock connector iJet, as well as an iJet Two-Way, which combines the features of the dock connector iJet with a beefier remote control that also sports a two-line LCD so you can see what your iPod is playing and even select playlists from up to 150 feet away.

For those who want to bring remote access to their computer, the iJet USB includes a USB receiver and an RF remote, again good for up to 150 feet away.

ABT stands by its range claims, but notes that each wall the signal must travel through typically cuts 30 feet off the total range. The iPod Observer will deliver reviews of ABT’s new products to our readers when they begin shipping later this month.
