AT&T Announces iPhone 3G Plans, July 11 Morning Launch

AT&T finally announced its iPhone 3G pricing and service contracts on Tuesday. Along with the new plans, the cell service provider revealed that it will start selling the combination iPod and smartphone at 8AM local time in the United States.
Like the current iPhone plans AT&T offers, unlimited data will be standard with all of its iPhone 3G packages.
The 8GB model will be price at US$199, and the 16GB model will cost $299 for new iPhone customers, customers that purchase an iPhone before July 11, and current customers that are eligible for an upgrade discount. According to AT&T, eligibility is typically based on how much time is left on a subscribers current contract.
For everyone else, the 8GB iPhone 3G will cost $399 and the 16GB model will cost $499. AT&T also plans to eventually sell the iPhone the 8GB model for $599 and the 16GB model $699 with a no-contract-required option as well.
AT&T will be offering four iPhone packages:
- AT&T Nation Unlimited: Includes unlimited Anytime Minutes for $129.99 a month.
- AT&T Nation 1350: Includes 1350 Anytime Minutes and unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes for $109.99 a month.
- AT&T Nation 900: Includes 900 Anytime Minutes and unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes for $89.99 a month.
- AT&T Nation 450: Includes 450 Anytime Minutes and 5,000 Night & Weekend Minutes for $69.99 a month.
All of the packages include nationwide long distance and roaming, Visual Voicemail, Rollover, unlimited Mobile to Mobile calling, Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, Three-Way Calling and Caller ID. SMS text messaging will add an extra $5 a month for 200 messages, $15 for 1,500 messages, and $20 for unlimited messages.
Family and business plans will be available, too.
Apple introduced the iPhone 3G on June 9 at its annual WWDC event for Mac and iPhone programmers. It is set to go on sale in about 20 countries on July 11.
