AT&T: No iPhone Pre-sales

It looks like anyone hoping to legitimately pre-order an Apple iPhone is out of luck. An internal AT&T memo prohibits pre-orders and even goes so far as to prohibit waiting lists, too, according to The Boy Genius Report.
The leaked memo states in part "iPhone will be available sometime in June. The exact date has not been announced, specific dates should not be provided to customers," and "Sales for the iPhone will be on a first come, first served basis. No wait list of names will be taken and NO pre-selling is allowed."
Assuming the memo is legit, that means AT&T stores may get to experience customers camping outside waiting for the product release - something Apple is all too familiar with.
The iPhone is a combination iPod and smart phone. Apple CEO Steve Jobs first announced the product during his keynote presentation at Macworld Expo in January, and said the device would be available in June. An official launch date has not yet been announced, but the company did narrow the window down to "late June."
