America Movil Launching iPhone 3G in 10 Countries on Aug 22

The Latin American cell service provider America Movil will be participating in the second wave of Apple’s iPhone 3G launch on August 22. Apple’s partner will roll out the combination iPod and smartphone in ten countries as part of the launch, according to CNNMoney.

America Movil’s iPhone 3G launch will take place in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Unlike Apple’s exclusive deal with AT&T in the United States, the Latin American market will see two companies offering the iPhone to customers. Telefonica SA also penned a deal with Apple and plans to start selling the iPhone 3G later this month.

America Movil has not yet said how much it will charge for the iPhone 3G, or how much service contracts will cost.
