    • Amon Tobin
    • The genius is in the beats. Amon Tobin creates fantastic, groovy beats behind beats. "Supermodified" rolls through your expectations of breakbeat music, and turns them up a bit. It's a mellow album, p

    • Pressure Chief, Cake's latest album, didn't immediately grab me. In fact, it took perhaps half a dozen listens before I started truly enjoying it. Any

    • It's an album about a breakup, done with beats instead of mopey lyrics. But the beats are raw, and the emotions are there, even if there aren't many words on top of it. While possibly not Scott Herren

Apple Adds Games to iTunes

Apple on Tuesday also added games for purchase from iTunes. Playable only on fifth-generation iPods, and not playable in iTunes, the titles available for US$4.99 each are Tetris, Mahjong, Mini Golf, Pac-Mac, Cubis 2, Bejeweled, Zuma, Texas Hold 'em, and Vortex. The last two were developed by Apple, while the others were adapted for the iPod by their original publishers.

Vortex is a 360-degree brick-bashing game that takes the Breakout gameplay -- rendered previously on the iPod, iPod nano, and iPod mini as Brick -- into new realms. Power-ups give players new abilities as they move through a variety of 3D environments.

Texas Hold 'em is a shared-card poker game often featured in tournaments aired on TV. Players travel to various locations around the globe, unlocking new ones as they defeat their opponents in games with increasingly higher stakes.

All of the games also require iPod software version 1.2. Previews of the games, which require iTunes 7 and QuickTime 7.1.3, are available on the iTunes Music Store.
