Apple Among Five Brands With Most Impact on Gamers
Thursday, May 18th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Cook
IGN Entertainment this week issued the results of a GamerMetrics and Research Solutions survey titled Anatomy of a Gamer, in which Apple was second to Google among brands having the most impact on gamers' lives. Forty-three percent of the respondents said Apple had a favorable impact, while 17% said it had a negative impact; Google's numbers were 59% and 9%, respectively.
Coca-Cola, ESPN and Target held the third, fourth, and fifth spots on the list, with 34%, 22% and 20% favorable impact, respectively.
Sixty-six percent of the gamers surveyed own an MP3 player; 50% of them own an iPod. Ninety-two percent download music from the Internet. IGN didn't break down that statistic by source, legal or illegal, but it did say that that consisted of "iTunes, Napster, etc."
IGN conducted the survey on its Web site between March 8 and March 16, receiving 2,119 total responses.
