Apple Brings FM Tuner to 5G iPod and iPod nano [Update]
Monday, January 9th, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
SAN FRANCISCO -- Apple announced the iPod Radio Remote, which, among other things, brings an Apple-branded FM tuner to the 5G iPod and iPod nano. The product is based on Apple's previous iPod remote control product, but incorporates an FM tuner into the compact controller. Radio station frequencies are displayed on the iPod's display.
"The iPod Radio Remote combines two great features in one elegant product," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. "The iPod Radio Remote is both the best remote control and the best FM radio listening experience for iPod."
iPod Radio Remote is priced at US$49, and includes a pair of headphones.
Apple also announced the iPod AV Connection Kit, which includes everything one needs to connect a video, or 5G, iPod to a TV. The iPod AV Kit is priced at $99, and includes an iPod Universal Dock.
Lastly, Apple introduced In-Ear Lanyard Headphones, which Apple described as, "the best of the iPod nano Lanyard Headphones and the Apple In-Ear Headphones, providing convenience and style with comfort and sound quality." In-Ear Lanyard Headphones are priced at $49.
All three products are shipping immediately, and are available from the Apple Store.
