Apple Brings Podcast Directory to Taiwan

Apple Computer Taiwan added a Podcast Directory service to iTunes for Taiwan, according to a report from Tapei Times. Yeo Eng Yiong, Apple's product marketing manager for portables in the Asia-Pacific region, told the Times, "We are working with 10 radio stations here and consumers will be able to listen to them over at iTunes within a month."
The article said that the ten Taiwanese radio stations included UFO Radio, Kiss Radio, Broadcasting Corp of China, and International Community Radio Taipei. In addition to the local content, however, Apple is also offering listings from the West, including ABC News, the BBC, Disney, ESPN, and Newsweek.
As it is in most of the world, iPod is the #1 digital media device, according to a Taiwanese research firm called Gfk.
Though Apple has launched the Podcast Directory, there isn't an actual iTunes Music Store servicing the Taiwan market. The Times report suggested this was because of the pronounced use of P2P networks for pirating music.
