Apple Canada Offers $45 Credit in iPod Suit

Apple agreed on Thursday to offer a CA$45 credit to Canadian residents that bought a first, second, or third generation iPod before June 24, 2004. The proposed agreement came in response to two lawsuits that alleged iPod batteries prematurely wore out and failed to maintain a charge, according to Montreal’s The Gazette.
The suits from Ines Lenzi and Bradley Waddell both claimed that after only a year of use, the iPod batteries ran for about three hours instead of the eight hours Apple advertised. Apple’s settlement will cover both cases and is awaiting final court approval on June 20.
Eligible iPod owners will be able to use their credit at Apple’s online store in Canada, and could apply to as many as 80,000 residents.
