Apple Feels Pressure From iPod Knock-Offs in Taiwan

Apple is facing increased competition in Tawain, where knock-off brands hold 40% of the market, compared to 20-25% for the iPod nano and 35-40% for such known brands as Samsung, iRiver and others. According to DigiTimes, 70,000 to 80,000 MP3 players are sold in the country every month, with the majority of them containing 512MB of storage.
