  • Supernature

    • Goldfrapp
    • On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.

    • Brian Eno
    • In his first proper solo release since 1996's relatively cold "The Drop," Brian Eno has constructed a whimsical and ecclectic masterpiece which is arguably one of the year's strongest records thus fa

    • Beck
    • Beck is the modern master of the groove, and Guero is merely the latest example of this. From the opening power chords of "E-Pro," to the Pac-Man cuteness of "Girl," to the dirge-like lullab

Apple Files Another Touch-Screen Patent

Apple has filed another patent for a touch-screen interface for an iPod or other handheld device, according to an in-depth review of the published filing by AppleInsider. Pictures published with the filing clearly show both an iPod's menu and what looks like a tablet-style computer.

The touch-screen features what Apple calls a "proximity detector," which enables it to sense when an object is close to it and display a "virtual scroll wheel" or other input mechanism. The filing describes the input mechanism's ability to either lay over media items on the display or minimize or shift them to make room for it. In addition, the patent describes methods by which the user can manipulate more than one input mechanism with both hands.

This isn't the first touch-screen patent filed by Apple, but it appears to be more in-depth than the first one.
