Apple Introduces 160GB Apple TV
Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Apple is now offering a 160GB hard drive option for Apple TV buyers that want more than 40GB of storage space without voiding their product warranty. The 160GB hard drive is a build-to-order option and offers about four times the storage space as a standard Apple TV.
Apple claims the higher capacity hard drive in its home media center appliance can hold up to 200 hours of video, 36,000 songs, or 25,000 photos. The 40GB Apple TV is priced at US$299, and the 160GB model costs $399.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the new Apple TV built-to-order option at the Wall Street Journals D: All Things Digital Conference on Wednesday. The event turned out to be a launching platform for several other entertainment-related Apple announcements.
The company also launched DRM-free music at the iTunes Store, announced that YouTube videos will be available on Apple TV in June, and also added Paul McCartneys classic albums to the iTunes Store.
