Apple Introduces 1GB iPod nano, Reduces shuffle Price

Apple announced the immediate availability of a 1GB version of the iPod nano on Tuesday. The new model comes in either black or white, and includes the same features and form factor as its 2GB and 4GB siblings, like a color display, Click Wheel, and slip-cover case. The 1GB iPod nano is priced at US$149.

In conjunction with the release of the new nano, Apple reduced the price on the iPod shuffle. The smaller iPod without a display is still available in 512MB and 1GB capacities, but is now priced at $69 and $99 respectively.

The introduction of a 1GB nano comes as no surprise to analysts, who have been predicting this since before Macworld Expo in January. What they did not expect, however, was that Apple would continue to produce the shuffle in both 512MB and 1GB models.
