Apple Opens iPhone to Hand-rolled Ringtones

Apple’s GarageBand 4.1.1 update held a special surprise for iPhone owners. Users can now create their own custom ringtones and export them directly to iTunes.
The new feature supports user-created songs and recordings, Apple Loops, and iLife jingles -- no copy protected content allowed. It requires iTunes 7.5 and higher, and iPhone software version 1.1.2.
Exported ringtones will sync with your iPhone automatically, but can’t be any longer than 40 seconds.
