Apple Patent Reveals iPod Touch Surface

A recent Apple patent filing reveals an iPod system with a display on the front and a touch sensitive surface on the back.
The idea is to use the back surface of, say, an iPod nano as a "force-sensitive touch surface" where the user provides input. Then the display surface on the front shows the results. The cursor is managed by touching the back surface gently, but responds to pressure when the user selects a virtual button.

The idea is make use of all that extra space on the back of a small iPod, such as a nano, and reflect the cursor and action on the front side. If a product like this ships, it will certainly be an interesting experience for both the users and the makers of iPod cases.
