Apple Settles iTunes Lawsuit

Apple has settled the Federal lawsuit brought against it by the man claiming the company stole his design for the iTunes music player. According to the Burlington Free Press, attorneys for both parties negotiated for 15 hours before reaching the undisclosed settlement.

David Contois, the owner of Contois Music & Technology, alleged that Apple employees stole his patented design after seeing it at a trade show. His company filed a suit against Apple for damages and also for a court order to prevent the distribution of the iTunes software. Apple denied the claims and filed a suit against Mr. Contois seeking reimbursement for legal expenses.

Mr. Contois brother, Dan Contois, commented "We're glad to get back to teaching music and selling musical instruments. The terms are confidential. We can't discuss them."

Apple has not commented on the settlement.
