Apple Tries its Hand at In-ear Headphones Again [Updated]

SAN FRANCISCO - Apples first try at in-ear iPod headphones wasnt a big success, but thats not stopping the company from trying again with a new model that Steve Jobs unveiled during a special media event on Tuesday. The new iPod in-ear headphones include a tweeter and woofer, three bud sizes, and an iPod controller built into the cord.
The in-line controller, dubbed the control capsule, includes a microphone along with the ability to adjust volume, control music and video playback, and control over the new voice memo feature found on the fourth generation iPod nano, new 120GB iPod classic, and second generation iPod touch.
While the headphones are compatible with with iPhone and iPhone 3G, the control capsule features are not.
Apple has not announced a ship date for its new in-ear headphones, but has said that they will be priced at US$79.
