Blizzard Sells WoW Ringtones & Wallpaper
Monday, October 27th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
This just in: World of Warcraft players need no longer leave WoW behind when they emerge from their homes, as they can now buy WoW-themed ringtones and wallpaper for the cell phones. Blizzard began selling the products on its Web site Tuesday.
Ringtones include the Murloc gurgle -- and who wouldnt want that to ring out on their cell phone? -- the WoW intro theme, the Battle theme, and the themesongs for all of the player home towns, including Stormwind, Iron Forge, Darnassus, Tinkertown, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, The Undercity. Missing is the themesong for Exodar and Silvermoon, the capital cities introduced in the Burning Crusade in late 2007. (Note that this writer was, to his embarrassment, able to put together the list of cities without referencing Blizzards materials).
Also included in the ringtone offerings is a selection of Starcraft sounds centered around some of the spoken catch phrases from that game. These include "Honor Guide Me," "My Life for Alur," "Goliath Online," "En Taro Adum," "Somebody Call for an Exterminator," and "Reporting for Duty." Each of the ringtones can be sampled directly on the site.
The Wallpaper line includes 52 images from WoW, Starcraft, and the Diablo franchise.
Ringtones are priced at US$2.99 each, while the Wallpaper images are priced at $1.99. You can find the full lineup of WoW mobile offerings at a special Web site for these products.
