Britain Approves iPod Radio Transmitters

Britain has finally legalized the use of FM radio transmitters with iPods, and the amendment to the 1949 Wireless Telegraphy Act goes into effect on December 8, according to Townhall.com. Prior to the change in the U.K. law, owners of products like the iTrip and TuneFM were required to have a radio license, and pay royalties for the songs transmitted through the devices.
FM radio transmitters are popular add-on accessories for the iPod since they allow users to play music on their car stereos without extra wires or hardware modifications.
Short range FM transmitters have been legal in the United States for some time. The U.K., Switzerland and Germany all allow them now, but most other European countries still ban the devices.
