CBS Signs up With Joost

CBS has made deals with MSN, AOL, and notably Joost to distribute network shows and other video programming, according to the Wall Street Journal [Subscription Required] on Thursday.
Previously aired episodes of "NCIS," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," the "Evening News with Katie Couric" and some sports programming will be made available.
CBS is the first broadcast network to sign with Joost.
The move was seen as a move to compete with the recently formed NBC Universal & News Corp venture to distribute their shows. CBS, however, wants to avoid a joint venture that could create complications and, instead, wants to retain sole control of the content. "CBS is betting its programming will help ignite growth -- and has been working to extract favorable conditions in return for the jump-start," the WSJ said.
Previously, CBS tried to strike a deal with YouTube, but talks fell apart over licensing fees and YouTube’s ability to remove pirated video.
