Chill, Beautiful Places, Long Island Acoustics and More

One of the best things about high definition TV is that you can get to see things with such startling detail that it almost negates any desire to ever leave the comfort and safety of your home.
Lets say youve just come home from tough day at the office. You dont want to watch police drama or lawyer drama or doctor drama on your new 50-inch plasma TV, but you do want to watch something while you sip a glass of wine, nibble some cheese, and maybe browse the mail that came today.
Well, if you have AppleTV and access to the iTunes Store you could download a few episodes of The Chill Room. Electronics sounds and extremely weird, but extremely cool visuals let you kick back and sip, nibble, and browse to your hearts content.

I would personally prefer some cool jazz over the techno-tunes in The Chill Room, but Im a fan nonetheless. There are only three episodes, the longest of which is a bit over 8 minutes and the shortest being a scant one and a half minutes, but all are cool. Theres also an iPod version in case you need to chill while you are out in the wild.
Speaking of being out in the wild, if youd like to take one of those backpacking vacations where you hike up some mountain and hangout you might want to take a look at the Beautiful Places podcast. Host, Tony Farley, does the legwork while you get to enjoy the scenery. Big Sur, Mt. Dana, and The Golden Gate Bridge are just some of the places Tony visits, Whats cool, besides the fact that the camera work is in high-def, is that Tony gives you the hikers view of trails along the way to the destination, so you kinda get the feeling of actually being there, but without the bugs, sweat, or leg cramps.

Of course, that means that Tony is getting the workout you should be getting, but what the heck. I watched Tony hike up Mt. Dana. It looked like a good hike and the view at the top was amazing. This is an excellent way to show off your Apple TV. If you want to watch on your iPhone or iPod there are version for those as well.
The Best of LX TV is an eclectic blend of interviews, sports, and short films made specifically for webcasting and it gives you a look at how the upper crust of our society lives. Because the format is so different you wont likely get bored with all the drinking, jokes and other weirdness the rich and famous feel the must do.

LX TV isnt destined to be one of my first stops when I finally buy my AppleTV, but you may get a kick out of it, and it does inadvertently show the less than glamorous side of celebs, for whatever thats worth.
Four episodes are available for downloading at the iTunes Store.
Finally, and Im not sure if I mentioned this before, but be sure to check out Acoustic Long Island Video. Im really liking these vids.

These are concert videos of a variety of acoustic artists from nearly every music genre. The artists perform in intimate venues and you really get the sense of being there.
Cathy Kregers video is pretty cool; she plays "What It Iz" and its a funky little tune that sticks to your ribs.
Theres a new video every week and its an excellent way to discover new music and independent artists.
OK, that going to do it for this week.
