Comcast Deploying New TiVo Systems in New England

Comcast, two years after the initial announcement, is finally distributing their set top boxes using TiVo technology in New England, according to a TiVo spokesman.
TiVo’s Whit Clay told the Associated Press that the new boxes will become available "in coming weeks."
The partnership between Comcast and TiVo was announced in 2005. While TiVo was an early DVR developer, the company has had difficult times as satellite and cable companies have sought to develop their own, cheaper technologies. However, not all those efforts went well, and Comcast’s renewed relationship with TiV will help the reputation of both companies.
The TiVo system will be a premium service and Comcast will continue to offer its on basic DVR service. The report did not specifically mention HD service or pricing, however, given the current market, the HD function is likely.
