Consumer Reports: iPod nano ‘sizzles,’ Motorola ROKR ‘fizzles’

Consumer Reports has published cnt_id=591741&FOLDER;<>folder_id=162691">its thoughts on the iPod nano and the iTunes-enabled Motorola ROKR cell phone. The magazine sums up its thoughts thus: "The player sizzles, the phone fizzles."

It finds some quibbles with the iPod nano, such as the shorter battery life compared to other flash-based MP3 players and the fact that its storage is less than comparably-priced iPod minis, but the bottom line is this: "The Nano is the top choice among MP3 players, with what may be the best-yet combination of size, storage and ergonomic ease."

The Motorola ROKR, however, gets dinged for its 100-song limitation, its less-sophisticated camera and the fact that users are forced to choose between listening to music or taking calls when using a Bluetooth headset. The bottom line, according to this magazine: "While the ROKR is an interesting experiment in extending the iPod brand, its hefty price and other drawbacks mean you’re better off sticking with a separate iPod and cell phone, at least for now."
