Consumer Spending on Internet Video Will Soar

A study by Adams Media Research said that consumer spending on TV and movies downloaded on the Internet will soar from US$111M in 2006 to more than US$4B in 2011. Reuters carried the story on Thursday.
"The Internet is going to revolutionize the distribution of video," says Adams Media Research President Tom Adams.
The Apple TV and similar devices were cited as products that will fuel the growth. On Wednesday, it was reported by iPO that Apple might capture a third of the set-top market.
The market research company forecasted US dollar sales as follows:
- 2007: $472M
- 2008: $1.2B
- 2009: $2.0B
- 2010: $3.1B
- 2011: $4.1B
The company also predicted US$1.7B in advertiser spending by 2011.
