    • Take the voice of a young Billie Holiday and stuff it into a svelte, petite body with the face of an angel, and you have some idea of what it's like to experience the music of Billy Miles in her self-

    • Man, there's nothing like good, old fashioned, rock and roll... add a bit of industry resentment to that with a double-shot of cynicism, and you get one of the best "new" rock bands going. This album

Digital Music Sales on the Rise in the UK

British music trade association BPI on Wednesday announced that digital music sales in the UK for the first quarter of 2006 were up 152% over the same period last year, according to Macworld UK. Reporter Jonny Evans noted that 78% of all singles sold in the UK are now digital, compared to 44% in 2005 and 4% in 2004, pushing 44% growth in the singles market compared to the first quarter of 2005.

CD sales, however, aren't on the wane just yet: 27.9 million of them were sold during the first quarter of 2006, a record for the UK. "We thought it would take three years, but in just 30 months the UK record industry has transformed itself from one that was 100 per cent focused on physical product to the most advanced digital music market in Europe," Mr. Evans quoted BPI chairman Peter Jamieson as saying.
