Find New Digital and Analog Content with Popcurrent.com
Friday, September 29th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by John F. Braun
ONTARIO, CA -- In an effort to help people find popular media, popcurrent.com recently launched a service that helps people locate and rank not only podcasts, but several other types of media. Ray Slakinski, Co-Founder, gave us the scoop on this new site.
While there are sites that allow users to rank a specific type of content, nobody has yet come up with a way to allow people to rank several different types of content in one place - until now. Popcurrent.com currently covers the areas of talk, video, music, images and books.
The benefit of this approach is that, based on what the user is searching for, they may come across a form of content that they wouldn't have previously considered or known about. For example, someone that is interested in books can easily learn about and explore podcasts.
Once the user locates something of interest, they can click on a link that connects them to the appropriate type of content, be it a Web site with more information, an image file, an audio file, or even an RSS feed. Unlike tech ranking sites such as digg, once a type of content is found, users can give it either a positive review (Pop!), or a negative review (Flop!). The site also shows what's new in each of the aforementioned categories, as well as the most popular reviewers.
You can visit the popcurrent.com Web site immediately to start searching for content, and even sign up for an account so you can start rating content.
