First Total HD Discs Predicted for June

Warner’s new Total HD format discs will be ready by June, according to Cinram’s Dominick DallaVerde, senior director of HD operations at the recent IRMA Forum in California. The story was posted by Home Media Magazine.
Cinram is a Provider of Pre-Recorded Multimedia Products and Services.
The first Total HD discs will be "15 GB HD DVD on one side and a 25 GB Blu-ray disc on the other. A higher capacity HD DVD 30 GB/Blu-ray 25 GB will be ready to ship by August," Mr. DallaVerde said.
At the 37th Annual International Recording Media Association Meeting in Indian Wells, the market issues related to Blu-ray and HD DVD were discussed.
Referring to the resistance of the retailers in the continued need to provide shelf space for both formats, Bob Alexander, president of research firm Alexander & Associates told the forum, "The retailer is not your friend. The entire market is up against a shelf-space issue."
Warner seems to understand this and has tried to be a peace maker in this format war with their dual format discs. Even so, High-Def Digest pointed out on Thursday that no other studios besides Warner have announced plans to support the Total HD format.
