GeekBrief, Geek Pick-up, Geek News, And More

This week I’d like to direct your attention to several podcasts that should keep you and your iPod happy.
First up is Like News, a weirdly animated podcast hosted by Skeeter DuBois, a nasally guy with a nose ring who interviews celebs. Check out the Al Gore episode, easily my favorite. Well, maybe the Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman episode is my favorite, or was it the Steve Jobs episode?

Anyway, grab several episodes and watch. Pure fun.
Next up is the Chris Pirillo Show. It’s a very strange podcast that centers on confessed techie, Chris Pirillo, as he answers questions, offers tidbits of info, and generally clowns around for the enjoyment of all. No technology, especially not Windows Vista, is safe from his irreverent wit. Check out the Ultimate Mac vs PC Battle in which Chris uses a MacBook Pro to slay evil Vista PCs. Very, very odd.

And while we are in the tech realm; geek-boys, listen up. Take a peak at GeekBrief TV hosted by the cute-as-a-button Cali Lewis. Listen carefully, because Cali zips through the news with afterburners on. That’s OK, it’ll just give you an excuse to watch again.

Tech news has never been more fun, and now you geek-boys have someone else to fantasize over. (I wonder if she likes older men,... much older men?)
Speaking of what women like, or rather, what they don’t like, VH1 has a new reality show called The Pick-Up Artist. The would-be artists are, in fact, geeky guys who have absolutely no clue how to approach or hold a conversation with women. We watch as these poor Joes try to overcome their awkwardness and move from creep to cool under the guidance of ex-geek, Mystery.
If you think this sounds a bit like Will Smith’s Hitch, you’d be right, except watching these guy bomb is a painful reminder just how hard people can be on each other and on themselves.
The key to dealing with the opposite sex in a social setting is to just be yourself, but there’s no reason to watch a show based on that concept.
As reality shows go this one’s OK so take a look. You geek-boys might learn something.
That’s a wrap for this week. Make sure you download this week’s free single, Song for the Fields. It’s a rock-like piece with interesting vocals and lyrics. I had to listen to it twice before deciding that I’m a fan. Good stuff.
