  • Rift

    • 8 out of 10
    • Phish
    • This quasi-concept album (the only of its kind) from these Vermonters finally showcased their ability to convey a message with a studio album, whereas previously they only succeeded in doing so live.
  • Haunted

    • 10 out of 10
    • Poe
    • Dropping like a bomb on some of the blah musical offerings of her contemporaries, Haunted was one of the best albums of 2000, obliterating the competition.

Ostensibly a tie-in to her brot

  • Perverse

    • 8 out of 10
    • Jesus Jones
    • When you think of Jesus Jones, chances are you can't remember them at all, or you vaguely remember "Right Here, Right Now" because it has been use

  • One Word Extinguisher

    • 8 out of 10
    • Prefuse 73
    • It's an album about a breakup, done with beats instead of mopey lyrics. But the beats are raw, and the emotions are there, even if there aren't many words on top of it. While possibly not Scott Herren
  • 2112

    • 10 out of 10
    • Rush
    • We all know it, right? Well, ya just gotta have it. 2112 finally showed Rush out on their own, doing their own thing, and doing it well, IMHO.

Gefen Introduces Prosumer Line: Gefen TV

Gefen announced on Friday their new line of TV solutions for prosumers and HD savvy consumers called Gefen TV. The line is based on Gefen’s professional series, but packaged differently and priced more competitively. The first in the series is the Gefen 4x1 HDMI Switcher.

"This way, consumers wont have to rely on an in-depth knowledge of audio/video systems to create a high quality and still impressive home theater set up," said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO. "The solutions are also priced more competitively to appeal to a wider audience beyond the A/V professionals who demand the finest quality for their systems."

The 4x1 Gefen TV Switcher is currently shipping. It enables the user to connect up to four different HDTV sources to one display or projector using HDMI connectors, giving direct access to all four sources at the press of a remote control button. Optionally, the unit offers automatic switching, a feature that recognizes a recently powered device and switches to it automatically.

The Gefen TV Switcher is HDMI v1.3 compliant so it will work with some of the most cutting-edge HDTV devices including high definition gaming systems and disc players. HDCP-compliant audio and video is delivered in all high definition resolutions up to 1080p. HDCP preserves the digital encryption used to connect protected HD sources and the display.

Additional products in the Gefen TV line will be rleased throughout 2008, according to the company.

The Gefen TV 4x1 HDMI Switcher is priced at US$199.00. Included are the remote control, four 6 ft. (1.8 meter) HDMI cables, the power supply and manual.
