Sunday, October 12th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro

Amit Chowdhry reported that Google is working closely with T-Mobile to make sure the launch is flawless. So far the device appears to be making a very good first impression.
While Apple has likely sold more than its predicted 10 million phones in 2008 as of this date, the 1.5 million pre-orders for the the G1 far exceeds Apples opening week sales of the iPhone. That bodes well the G1 which, in addition, allows developers to keep 100 percent of their revenue -- while Apple collects a 30 percent fee on every sale.
In September, Walt Mossberg wrote about his initial impressions of the new smartphone from Google.
T-Mobile previously announced that the G1 will go on sale October 22 for $179 with a two year contract.
