Griffin Announces New Redesigned iPod iTrip
Thursday, September 1st, 2005 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Gibson
Griffin Technology Inc. announced Friday a totally redesigned version of its iTrip FM transmitter for the Apple iPod.
The new design has several enhancements, including a large, backlit liquid crystal display, a knob on the side to dial a broadcast frequency, and selectable LX or DX modes of broadcasting to adjust for the absolute best possible audio. The company said the selectable DX broadcast mode "delivers a noise level that's below that of a cassette tape adapter, allowing the music to punch through cleanly."
Another new feature is the ability to set the iTrip to either US or International tuning modes. International mode allows access to all available frequencies throughout the world. US mode limits tuning to those frequencies relevant to US stations.
The new iTrip features volume enhancements as well, with an auto volume control that works with the iPod's volume level to automatically avoid distortion. If the iPod volume is set too high, iTrip recognizes and corrects it by lowering the volume to its optimum level. The new design gives the iTrip dimensions of 2.45" x 1.43" x 0.9", weighing just 0.6 ounces. The frequency range remains at between 88.1 and 107.9 megahertz with a frequency response range of 50 hertz to 15 kilohertz.
The iTrip works with the iPod Photo, iPod U2 Special Edition, fourth generation iPod with click wheel and third generation iPod with touch wheel and buttons. The Griffin iTrip is immediately available and retails for US$49.99.
