I’m going to tell you a secret. This is just between you and me, pretty readers. If you tell anyone, I will come after you and eat your brain, like Sylar. Or I will come after you and bore you with endless, mythology-laden speechifying, like Mohinder. Whatever!

Here it is: I have a crush on Horn-Rimmed Glasses. I know. I immediately dismissed the obvious hotties (Mo, Isaac), skipped right over the geekgal heartthrobs (Hiro, Matt), and dallied with then got over the classic fangirl obsession (Nathan). But something about that moment wherein HRG starts sending Matt escape instructions with his mind? Whilst sitting broodingly in his tiny little cell? Sigh, swoon, etc.

HRG is being held prisoner by Eric Roberts, but thinking stuff at fellow prisoner Matt eventually leads to the two of them -- plus Geico Ted -- busting out and hitting the road. This immediately fills my mind with glorious images of some sort of Charlie’s Angels-style spin-off, featuring this mismatched trio fighting crime and righting wrongs and being generally awesome. Every episode would end with a freeze-frame of our nutty threesome laughing hysterically about one of Geico Ted’s wacky radioactive pranks-gone-wrong. Geico Ted is such a card!

Seriously, I love these three together. In fact, this is my favorite plotline of the eppy, but it’s a tough call: those crazy Petrellis have a lot going on, too. After getting his forelock snipped, Peter engages in a fairly cool fight with Sylar, only to get sliced in the head by an errant piece of glass. Mo actually manages to come down from the ceiling and do something useful, knocking Sylar out and dragging seemingly dead Peter to Ma Petrelli.

Nobody seems to notice that Peter still has a giant hunk of glass jammed into his head -- perhaps because it’s buried under his voluminous locks -- until Claire comes on the scene and yanks it out, thereby bringing him back to life. There is still a slightly icky vibe between Peter and Claire, by the way. Just saying.

And Nathan has quite an interesting visit to the creepy LinderMuseum. Linderman reveals that he has a healing power and that he used to be in a group of sorts with some other superpowered peeps. Sounds like it didn’t end well.

Speaking of Linderman, he wants to spend some quality time with Micah, most likely for some sort of nefarious purpose. Jessica doesn’t seem too into it, so shape-shifting Candice just makes herself look like Ali Larter and tricks Micah into joining Linderman in his LinderCar (heh, why is putting "Linder" in front of everything funny? Is it a Batman thing? Batcave, Batmobile, Shark Repellent Batspray? Maybe it’s only funny to me). Candice really has the best power when it comes to connecting tricky storytelling dots. Good thinkin’, writers!

Two other important things happen in this eppy, and they’re kind of doozys: Sylar kills Isaac and Present Hiro meets Future Hiro. Yeah.

As far as the first thing: it’s fairly dramatic and over-the-top, what with Isaac getting basically crucified by his paintbrushes. Subtlety, thy name is totally not Heroes.

A few months ago, I probably wouldn’t have cared, but now I’m a bit sad. Isaac was actually getting sort of interesting after accidentally killing Simone and all. And he seemed filled with purpose and vigor in this eppy, which made him even more compelling, but I guess that was supposed to signal the completion of his arc or something. Ah, well. Rest in peace, ridiculously handsome druggie painter.

And about the second thing: It’s neat enough, though Future Hiro’s soulpatch needs to go. Present Hiro would never sport such an irritating, pseudo-hipster affection.

So yeah, this outing is completely packed. And earlier in the series’ life, I might have found that to be kind of a detriment. But now, as we’re getting to know the characters better, it just feels right -- yes, it actually feels natural to have seven million important plot points stuffed into an hour. With each episode, the series is gaining a certain richness and complexity, and as we hurtle toward the end of the season, I’m more addicted than ever.
