Improving iPod Navigation from iTunes

Scrolling through your iPod’s Artists list to Warren Zevon can be a slow process if you have lots of music loaded. Subgrouping everything into alphabetical artist groups can help hold off the effects of iPod thumb for a little while longer.
The sharp folks over at Leftbrained created a set of Smart Folders in iTunes that organizes all of the artists based on the first letter of their name. Apples in Stereo and Afterlife go to the "A" folder, Bad manners to the "B" folder, and so on.
It’s easy to set up, and even accounts for group names that start with "The." Once you finish making your smart folders, and syncing your iPod, you can navigate through your new alphabetical subsets to find the artist you really want to hear, and since the lists are built from Smart Folders, they will automatically update as you add new music.
