Jacobs Media: iPod Sales Show No Signs of Stopping
Sunday, April 1st, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
A new Web poll, conducted by Jacobs Media, showed that iPod/MP3 player growth continues to be impressive. The results were released Monday.
The study was conducted in late February through early March. More than 25,000 respondents were involved.
"iPods are showing no signs of stopping," according to Fred Jacobs, President of Jacobs Media. "Last year, our data showed that the growth of personal mp3 players was far from over. This year, our new study confirms that this phenomenon continues to have lots of life, and we expect strong growth throughout 07."
The poll asked those who still do not have one of these devices if they intend to buy one in 2007. Nearly half of those reponding said they are "very" or "somewhat" likely to buy one. The number for "strong liklihood" was 12 percent. "It should be another great year for Apple and other personal mp3 player manufacturers," the study noted.
Respondents were also asked about the most important new feature their music player could have. Overwhelmingly, the study found, these repondents want an FM tuner (33 percent).
In another key finding, 49 percent of personal music player owners said they can now connect them to the main vehicle they drive. "This is yet another "red flag" to radios once-dominant in-car status," Jacobs Media warned.
