Jailbreak Already Working for iPhone Update 1.1.2
Thursday, November 8th, 2007 at 3:00 PM - by John Martellaro
With some users still not having applied their iPhone 1.1.2 update yet, the developers of Jailbreak have already developed a fix, according to C|Net on Friday.
Apple has, according to the report, closed the TIFF flaw that allowed experts to develop the Jailbreak code. The new Jailbreak method requires a patch to the iPhone before its updated to 1.1.2. Then users can unlock the iPhone or install 3rd party applications.
Whats not yet clear is whether applying the 1.1.2 update bricks phones that had been previously unlocked, as it did in some cases with the previous 1.1.1 Apple update.
The battle will continue, according to Tom Krazit, until either popular demand or changes in the law bring a cease fire.
Apple has previously announced that it will allow some 3rd party developers to write iPhone apps using Apples SDK starting in February. However, that doesnt extend to unlocking the iPhones ties to AT&T.
