Listen to Your iPod While on the Throne, or in the Shower

Next month, Atech Flash Technology will release iCarta, a four-speaker, moisture-free system that includes a toilet paper holder. It mounts on a wall and uses AC power; the toilet paper holder can be folded in, if the user would prefer not to use that part of the system.

iCarta is compatible with all iPods that have dock connectors. It charges the MP3 player while playing music.

iPodObserver.com was alerted to the iCarta by a post on the SciFi.com technology blog. While it seemed to be a joke at first, it is featured as a product on Atech’s Web site.

When contacted for comment, Atech Flash sales manager Eric Liu said: "We want to create something that is different and brings people joy for buying such products. The idea was from our VP and we have spent about 12 months development on this product. The product is even protected by our own patent world wide."

He added that iCarta was introduced last June, but delays in tooling and development pushed back its release until this year. Pricing will be US$99.95.
