Mobile Computer has a video comparing the performance of the Web browser in the BlackBerry Bold to Safari on an iPhone 2G. It was a poor showing for the Bold.
The article discusses the cosmetic changes RIm made to the Bolds interface and finished with a video that shows how much faster Safari is on the iPhone 2G. <embed src="http://blip.tv/play/_RDIwWuM0kE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed>
The demonstration pointed out that it was impossible to utilize Wi-Fi on the Bold with the 3G network turned off, and thats why the 3G network icon showed up as active on the Bold. In comparing the Wi-Fi browsing speeds, a fixed standard for comparison, Julian Prokaza wrote: "Either Apple is doing something right or RIM is doing something wrong with their respective web browsers, but whatever the case, its a pretty poor show for the Bold."
