Mossberg: Mixed Impression On Apple’s iPhone

The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg is one of the lucky few that already has an iPhone in hand, and he has already found a few things he likes, and a few that he doesn’t. He spoke briefly about the iPhone Apple provided him for review purposes during a speech for college leaders on Monday, according to The Chronicle.

After having an iPhone for about an hour, he told the attendees "I don’t know whether I’ll give it a good review or not. I can already see some things I don’t like about it. I see some other things that I do like a lot about it."

One of Mr. Mossberg’s concerns was with the iPhone’s virtual keyboard and how accurate it really is. "I can tell you that in the first hour it works a little better than I thought," he said. "But I’m still not sure it works as well as a regular keyboard - and the first hour is not a very fair test, so I’m going to keep going at it."

Mr. Mossberg added that he sees the iPhone as the next step in cellphone technology because it runs a real computer operating system. He also noted that the era of desktop computers is coming to an end thanks in part to the advances in cellphone technology.

"The PC’s been a big deal. It has peaked," he said.
