Munster: iPhone Price Cut Triples Sales
Monday, September 10th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Analyst Gene Munster has reported that the iPhone price cut has tripled the daily sales from 9,000 per day to 27,000 per day.
Recently, it was reported that Apple sold 1M iPhones in 74 days. However, the initial shipment of 270,000 was likely sold out quickly, leaving 730,000 to be sold in perhaps 60 days. That works out to about 12,000 phones sold per day since the initial rush after June 29th.
Recent numbers put the sales at 9,000 per day and, according to Information Week on Tuesday, Gene Muster is reporting that the price drop has propelled sales to 27,000 per day. However, the analyst believes that the final number will settle down to about half of that leading up to the holiday period.
At that rate, according to IW, Apple could sell almost an additional 1.5 million phones by December 31st.
This will certainly get Apple off to a good start in 2008, and the chances now appear good that Apple will beat its own estimate for next year as well.
