NBC Experiments with Free TV Shows on iPhone
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
NBC has made two of its popular shows available, 30 Rock and The Office, available, for free, on the Apple iPhone and iPod touch. The streams are commercial free.
The URL is <http://m.nbc.com/iphone/fullepisodes.shtml> and it wont work with Safari on the Mac side or even MarketCircles iPhoney.

NBCs TV shows have been pulled from iTunes over pricing disputes, but NBC appears to be willing to try this experiment with the iPhone and iPod touch. With the data rate involved, its definitely an Wi-Fi option only. Dont try it with EDGE.
Also, since the videos are streamed, they cant be stored on the iPhone, giving NBC the instant DRM it wants. Its not yet clear what the future of this project is, but NBC will certainly be watching the numbers for now.
