New iPod Battery Service ipodjuice.com Debuts

Milliamp Enterprises has announced the launch of ipodjuice.com, a new iPod battery replacement service that either ships the batteries to consumers for self-installation or has them send in their iPods for servicing by a technician. The do-it-yourself kits include the iOpener, a tool with a wedge-shaped head that iPod owners can use to pry open their MP3 players; the company says it's sturdier than the tools provided by competing companies.

Batteries are available for all versions of the full-size iPod as well as the iPod mini. All but the fourth generation iPod have different options, with the new batteries either comparable to the originals or lasting up to 40% longer than the ones Apple supplies. Prices range from US$28 to $42.

For consumers who want to have ipodjuice.com install their new batteries for them, pricing starts at $20 for those who will provide their own packing materials and shipping. For $40, the company will send out an empty package for sending the iPod back via ground shipping; overnight shipping both ways is $70.
