New iPod Vehicle Hook-Ups Debut

Directed Electronics, Inc. and BMW on Wednesday introduced new ways to connect an iPod directly to a vehicle's stereo. Directed debuted four IP-Port iPod adapters, starting at US$159.95, that work in Ford, GM, Honda, and Toyota vehicles and enable users to operate the MP3 player with the CD changer controls. Product information was not available on the company's Web site as this article was posted.
BMW's new iPod interface works with 3 Series Sedans and Sports Wagons, as well as 5, 6, and 7 Series vehicles and the new M5 Sedan and M6 Coupe. The new interface is also compatible with Sirius satellite radio and HD Radio. It sits in the glovebox and works with any iPod that has a dock connector. It will be available starting in July; pricing was not announced.
