Tuesday, July 11th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Nike and Apple jointly announced on Wednesday that the retail launch of the Nike+iPod Sport Kit will happen on Thursday, July 13. The kit, which was introduced in May, works in conjunction with special Nike+ footwear and the iPod nano to track joggers' statistics and give them audible updates on speed, distance, and calories burned.
Nike said that Nike Air Zoom Moire+ and Nike Air Zoom Plus+, the first of six styles in the Nike+ footwear line, will launch by the end of July. The shoes will sell for US$80 to $100, while the Sport Kit will sell for $29. In addition to an iPod nano, users need iTunes 6.0.5 and Mac OS X v10.3.9 or Windows 2000, XP Home, or XP Professional.
