  • One Word Extinguisher

    • 8 out of 10
    • Prefuse 73
    • It's an album about a breakup, done with beats instead of mopey lyrics. But the beats are raw, and the emotions are there, even if there aren't many words on top of it. While possibly not Scott Herren
  • Music Has The Right To Children

    • 10 out of 10
    • Boards of Canada
    • This one will haunt you. From the first notes to the last, their sound surrounds you. BOC has put out a fantastic catalogue, and this album is a great starting point for a new listener. Jump straight
  • Live at the Magic Bag, Ferndale, MI

    • 6 out of 10
    • Supersuckers
    • Man, there's nothing like good, old fashioned, rock and roll... add a bit of industry resentment to that with a double-shot of cynicism, and you get one of the best "new" rock bands going. This album
  • Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

    • 8 out of 10
    • Arctic Monkeys
    • Get on your dancing shoes
      You sexy little swine

    • Phish
    • This quasi-concept album (the only of its kind) from these Vermonters finally showcased their ability to convey a message with a studio album, whereas previously they only succeeded in doing so live.

No Google Music Service for Now

Google announced during the annual National Association of Recording Merchandisers conference that it is not joining the digital music download game. Chris Sacca, Google's head of business development, said "We are not going to be selling music," according to Reuters.

Google urged the other attendees to build partnerships if they are interested in developing online digital media services. If the company intends on being a part of those partnerships remains unclear, but Mr. Sacca did point out Google's trends feature as a tool to help predict the success of albums and singles.

The announcement ends a year's worth of speculation and rumors that Google wanted to compete with Apple and the iTunes Music Store.
