Nordic iTunes Talks Planned

Consumer regulators from the Nordic region will meet on August 24 and 25 to discuss their response to Apple's failure to open iTunes to competing music players. According to Forbes, the countries plan to decide if legal action against Apple is warranted, and if any action should be taken, or on a country by country basis.
Norway's Consumer Ombudsman sent Apple a letter in June stating that the iTunes Music Store licensing policy violates the country's laws, along with a request that Apple open its copy protection scheme to competing music players. Apple responded by stating it will not change its licensing, or open its DRM technology to competitors.
Bj�rn Erik Thon, the Norwegian Consumer Ombudsman, said that his country will be discussing "possible legal steps" with Denmark and Sweden since the three countries have similar consumer laws.
Before a final decision is made, however, Nordic regulators plan to participate in talks with Apple in September.
