OWC Adds $39 iPod Battery Installation, Cuts Hard Drive Prices

Other World Computing (OWC) on Tuesday announced that, for US$39, it will now install any of the Newer Technology NuPower iPod batteries that the company sells. That price includes the cost of OWC sending the customer a packing box, as well as overnight shipping both ways. OWC's technician will install the new battery, test and clean the iPod, and dispose of the old battery. Prices for OWC's iPod replacement batteries range from $24.95 to $39.95; OWC sells batteries for all regular and mini iPods.

OWC has also added a 320GB model to its Neptune line of FireWire 400 drives and cut prices across the board. The low end is now the 80GB drive with a 2MB data buffer for $105.99; the 320GB drive, which has the same 8MB data buffer as every drive but the 80GB version, sells for $239.99. The drives are also available in 120GB ($134.99), 160GB ($149.99), 200GB ($164.99) and 250GB ($189.99) capacities. All of the drives ship with FireWire cables, Intech HD SpeedTools and EMC/Dantz Retrospect Backup software.
