Orange CEO Confirms Deal to Carry iPhone in France

France Telecom CEO Didier Lombard didn’t wait for an Apple press conference to announce that Orange will be the exclusive iPhone carrier in France. Mr. Lombard revealed his company’s deal with Apple on Thursday, but didn’t offer many details, according to CNNMoney.
Mr. Lombard may not have been sharing information about rate plans, or what Orange agreed to in its deal with Apple, but he did confirm that the combination iPod and smart phone would be available in France before the end of the year. "Before Christmas, probably in November," he said.
Apple announced on Tuesday that O2 would offer the iPhone in the U.K., and on Wednesday announced that T-Mobile would carry the phone in Germany. Analysts have been speculating that France Telecom’s Orange would land the French deal, but Mr. Lombard’s statement is the first official confirmation.
